I only recall hearing a sonic boom twice in my life and that was nearly sixty years ago.

I could understand why people made such a big deal of the fact that he “could jump a tall building with a single bound” when he could fly.

Never paid him much attention myself. Batman’s kindof cool ‘cause he’s just a guy, but I don’t pay much attention to him either.

tcar-1 said, about 15 hours ago@neverenoughgoldReply to your late comment yesterday. Couldn’t tell. But here’s a good deer story. We have 25 acres of land. We sold some to my brother-in-law at the back so his place is very wooded. Rode back there last night just after dark and I bet we saw a herd of at least 50 of them. Never seen that many at once before.

Interesting to note, in a Minnesota state park near Mankato, several bison raised at the Minnesota Zoo were released recently to roam in the wild… well, at least within the park fences!

Speeding bullet = 1700 mph. Definite sonic boom material. Fortunately, most of us watching back then didn’t know that. I watch it now just to hear the theme song. It brings back Saturday afternoons, sitting in the living room with only the TV for light, listening to my mother in the kitchen fixing dinner. Sweet memories!

Very peaceful and cute! And it is nice that Red is not believing everything he hears, LOL.

Maybe he takes off slower when he’s in populated areas, so as not to disturb the locals with a sonic boom.

There is an Air Force test range to the west of the Great Salt Lake and once in a while we hear the distant sonic booms. The windows and shelves suddenly rattle.

I liked Superman, too. George Reeves was such a strong-looking person with a good voice. Too bad he didn’t think so, too. That show would be laughable today, but it was great then.

I have the complete Adventures of Superman CD collection, 1952-1958. This first two seasons are in B&W, the last in color!

BTW, Jack Larson, who played Jimmy Olson in the series just died on Sep 20, 2015…

Actually the Smith and Wesson police special shown in the Superman intro on television in the 50’s had a muzzle velocity of 980 ft/s. That is significantly slower than the speed of sound at 1,126 ft/s.

So Superman could fly faster than the bullet and still slower than sound. Sorry Red no sonic boom.
