Wild guess, but I wonder if in the wake of the Blackhearts incident Junior might take the family and move away from Tracyville, for his family’s safety’s sake.
Considering Honeymoon’s recent troubles in the mall & this incident it wouldn’t surprise me if Junior didn’t pack up and move. Also he does have a son to worry about as well. Or maybe Honeymoon wants to move into the quarters at Smith Industries to be closer to Mysta and Junior needs some fatherly advice? Either way I don’t think we are jumping into the next story, I think we will transition through the week with a throwaway storyline like the fishing with Popeye last year. Maybe Juniors decisions here are the throwaway storyline.
Junior is definitely worried about something. But, at this early point, it would be premature to say what his problem is. Since he is seeking Tracy’s advice, it is probably a family matter; but that is as far as I would go today….
So, what’s the significance of that hat? Jr. is holding it in panel one, then he apparently handed it to the cop in panel three. Whose hat is that? I don’t think it is Tracy’s hat; he came on to this scene already dressed in SWAT gear.
Considering the recent events in the Tracy lives, (Joe’s attempted abduction, Tracy kidnapped looking for Annie, death attempts by VB’s friend Abner and Mrs Jones) Junior MAY be thinking its time to get out of Dodge. Or maybe work with Fritz Ann in the FBI. Can you imagine Honeymoon in Quanatico>
I’m not one to analyse art in detail to pinpoint what’s good or bad about it. All I can say is that I know that today’s strip is just a bridge between the firefight of the last weeks and what is no doubt a difficult conversation to come. Nothing really happens. But I can’t stop looking at it.
A blissful Saturday my friends-———-I’m taking mom to my nephew’s in Cumming GA. He is having a birthday party for her. She is 95.-———-Have a bountiful day everyone.
while Jr. is looking mighty middle aged in panel 3-————————————————-I think it’s just parental worry that’s put some years on Junior. Learning your child was just in the middle of a raging gun battle in a criminal headquarters will, I’m sure, increase the gray hair count.
I sure hope Junior isn’t thinking of moving away, or sending Honeymoon to a private school somewhere. She’s one of the best characters in the strip.-But – could there be a spin-off down the road featuring Honeymoon, Mysta and Annie? Nah.
Sam feared he had lost his lidWind stole it. Gusts kept it hid.His hat it rode the whirlwindTo great heights the blow did sendIt flying, dancing in the breezeWhile Fritz Ann’s hand Sam did squeeze. It finally wafted to the groundAt Junior’s feet the hat was found.Dusty derby seems now to sayMy owner knows crime does not pay.
There’s a “Hidden Mickey” behind Tracy in Panel 2. Could this be a clue to Junior’s urgent message? “Tracy, Tribune Media and GoComics have just been acquired by Disney!”All kidding aside, if it happened in real life, I wouldn’t be shocked. Disney already owns ABC, Marvel Comics, Lucasfilm, the Muppets… and the list goes on and on.
Worry will do that to you. I was wondering how he managed to wear that hat with his hair looking as it does, but I think the others are correct in saying that it is Sam’s hat. The colouring guy apparently didn’t pick up on that subtlety.
re: the hatIt’s not Junior’s hat. As you can see in the last panel, it has been handed to one of the officers in the background, who seems to be searching for some type of identification.
“If found, please return to Samuel Catchem.”
Like Neil Wick said, the colour is most likely incorrect. It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened.
I have to question why tweens Honeymoon and Annie were allowed to go alone to the Treasures of Am exhibit in the first place, especially after the recent incident in the mall.
I had a message from JPuzzleWhiz. He figures that someone just recently flagged his comment(s) from three years ago, although he had apologized long ago for what he had written.
@Jim in CT, Neil Wick, Chris Sherlock and cpalmeresq: Thank you my friends. Mom had a great time. My son-in-law and daughter were there also. My son-in-law did the cooking. He fixed spaghetti with and without meat, chicken and Italian bread. The food was delicious, especially the 2 birthday cakes. Have a peaceful night my friends.
Why would stuff about a main character, like Junior, be considered throwaway ?I think he’s speculating that this is part of a four-day sequence that doesn’t relate to anything in the big picture (like the Popeye sequence seemed to be). In fact, Junior has come to fetch Honeymoon and Annie. I think he’s looking for parenting advice. That would tie into the big picture. A lot of the undercurrent of this story related to Honeymoon and her life plans and the sometimes uncomfortable changes that have come with her growing maturity (the coming out about the horns, the incident in the mall, the yearning to become a detective, etc.)
Nice plan !Just wondering who would do this other strip.
I agree. I think this strip occupies a lot of the creators’ time. I wouldn’t like to see it decline in quality is their attentions were further divided.

Junior, but no Sparkle! I hope that’s not a sign of trouble in their marriage.

… I myself occasionally am looking at strip comments from way back …
New readers of storyline strips often need to start a little way back to really understand everything that is going on in the current strip.
