    Actually, members of congress don’t have health programs as good as state employees and large union members, and, unlike them, have to pay premiums

    This cartoon is a disappointment because it is untrue. The candidate should be saying that he’s running so that he can be eligible for these benefits. Federal government health insurance has a premium like any other insurance. Government dental benefits are poor but you can purchase a supplemental dental plan at a higher cost. There are no Federal government pensions. The government offers employees an annuity that they must purchase with deductions from each pay check. Since 1984, all Federal employees must also contribute to Social Security. State governments have their own versions of these benefits but all have a cost to the employee.
