Banks are senseless monuments to the greedy and larcenous nature of human beings. If we could do away with the convenience of money, there would be no sad, empty houses on the prairie.
In the 1930’s Woody Guthrie wrote a song about Charles Floyd (“Pretty Boy Floyd”) a notorious bank robber and outlaw. The last verse goes like this:
As through this world I’ve traveled, I’ve seen all kinds of men,Some will rob you with a six-gun, and some with a fountain pen.But as through this world you ramble, as through this world you roam,You’ll never see an outlaw drive a family from their home.
