This will be a tough campaign promise to keep. First, there’s getting a bill through Congress. The pro-legalization crowd will argue that it’s no more dangerous than sniffing other dogs’ butts. The religious crowd will proclaim that drinking from the toilet is sinful, because the toilet is not mentioned in Genesis as having been created by Dog. The capitalists will want the law to permit the bottling and selling of toilet water. The vast majority, however, will be disgusted with the time wasted on such nonsense. Their take on it will be that there are more important issues to deal with (such as leash laws and pooper-scooper regulations) and that it’s all about choice; what dogs want to do in the privacy of their own homes is their own business.
