OKAY, this is the FREAKIEST one-day strip in Team Tracy’s tenure, WITHOUT A DOUBT I Will LOVE to see where this is headed! If you’re a fan, follow it! If not, turn it off. Just realize that these creators are doing THEIR version of DICK TRACY! Wait & See what develops! I have every hope that it will be fascinating!
GREAT SCOTT – Sam Catchem’s evil doppleganger??? This new storyline is off to rip-roaring start. Looks like Keyes is about to play his last tune, and it’s likely to be the funeral march.
Someone is having a nightmare, and a really bad one at that. I wonder if it is Tracy who is having the nightmare. Tracy was very tired after the Ace Tower raid and had a very deep sleep and his mind started to wander to strange lands.
This is likely Team Tracy’s Halloween present to everyone, which will end, of course, on Halloween.
Leaping lizards! Have we all been transported by Punjab to Somewhere Else? Is this the Mr. Hyde-version of Sam Catchem?! What the heck is going on here? Or is this Sam’s crooked grandfather or great-uncle?
This whole arc is odd and getting more bizarre every day. I can hardly wait to see how Team Tracy makes sense of this!
The Sam that was this Sam sure ain’tSpeaks as a thug without restraint.Should have stuck to a toothpickFor 88 the end comes quick.Mirror, mirror on the wallThis world is strangest of them all.Up is down and wrong is rightVillain Sam is an odd sight. The Sam that was this Sam is notI fear that Keyes shall soon be shot.
I wonder if this a “flashback” story from before the time when Sam started working with Tracy? Sam did have a career and this could have been an undercover assignment.
Nice mislead there – using the name “Trigger” allowed them to make some people think it was an old Tracy character with that name who also wore a bow tie. Never did I think it could be Sam!
Oh deer, now this is a strip thread worth watching! I tend to agree with @Docnero about Earth 3.
I’m quite familiar with the line, and although yes the good guys (IE: Police dept) is evil now, and the good guys are the former bad guys (IE: Keyes) even they do not act exactly mirrors of the former good guys.
It’s more of a feel of a mafia style senero where the ‘good guys’ are on an uneasy truce, and forced to work on the side of light. Anti-heroes, to you writers, not pure heroes.
Still, this i going to be an interesting thead. I’m glad the new team isn’t going for reality at all costs, as Mr. Gould did (even if he went a bit — off — on the Moon thread.)
“…a fragment of an underdone potato. There is more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!”So says Ebenezer Scrooge to the ghost of Jacob Marley. Good to see you know your Dickens, sir. I strongly recommend the 1951 film adaptation starring Alastair Sim. The whiter my hairThe more black I wear.
We know Abner is due to appear in the Halloween story. So isn’t it logical (pardon my Spockishness) to think Abner may be behind this nightmare?Or did I already say that? Sorry if I’m repeating myself.)
I agree about ST:TNG. They had such a huge ship, and everybody was so nice to each other (at least when I tried watching it), that it felt like “The Love Boat” in space.-Mind you, I’d have enjoyed seeing Bernie Kopell as the ship’s doctor. And I can easily imagine the wacky fun of Gopher being in charge of supplying phasers and tricorders for away teams. (“Oops! Sorry, Mr. Data.” “That is not a problem. I keep a stock of spare limbs for just such sight gags.”)
Much as the “alternate universe” concept has been overdone (especially in the Star Trek franchise), I must say I like that idea better than the even MORE overdone “evil doppleganger” bit.
How does everyone think Abner is going to be here for Halloween? Given the choice, I’d rather spend Halloween at a table with Gweedo, StillDaMan, Matty, Sydney, and all the rest of you dudes here! With a cold tub of your favorite beverages and Rikki popping out of an orange and black cake to top it off! How can anyone beat that?
Lethbridge-Stuart sans mustache, has a scar and eye patch? Brigade-Leader? Britain a fascist republic? The Doctor was aghast at the implications.____________________
From “Infero” …
That Jon Pertwee season – sans “Spearhead From Space” – was the first I’d seen of Doctor Who …
Legend has it that “Inferno” as we know it came about when another story in the pipeline fell through, and the parallel universe subplot was introduced to pad out the episode count.

First thing I thought seeing the “Evil Sam” is: alternate universe!
A “mirror” universe where good guys are bad and bad guys are good. Hence the title of this series “Midnight Mirror,”
Second thing I thought was hearkening to the original “Star Trek” series episode, “Mirror, Mirror” (Spock with a beard!)
So if we have a “bad” Sam, a "bad "Tracy? (with a beard?)
