You got to get them while they don’t know any better. My daughter (4 yo) loves riding to school in a child bike seat or trailer under the snow. She was going to daycare bundled up at -20, so she’s never known differently.
The real issue is whether the parents are stoic enough to do it :)
Not unusual here in SoCal to have students wearing hoodies with temps in the 90s.Of course, they’ll complain that they’re hot — but will still give you the eye-roll (or deer-in-headlights stare) if you suggest taking the hoodie off.
Everybody gets a ride to school around here. Very few houses are close enough to the elementary school to be within walking distance, maybe a couple dozen. The middle school is in a complex, and I don’t think there are any sidewalks. And, while there are busses, it means an hour of their day lost and subjecting your kid to rampant bullying.

My wimp chill factor is 70 degrees. That comes from living in AZ for over 40 years.

Last week it was just a little below 60 degrees, and these wimps here in Georgia were already burning firewood.

And besides, the parents would be charged with abuse for letting their kids walk to school.

At 50 deg I’m still likely to wear shorts. Perhaps a long sleeve shirt.

I have noticed that in the autumn, 55 degrees F is really cold, but in the spring, 55 degrees F is balmy t-shirt weather.

Jack Garrott20/68 is the official “room temperature” for chemical reactions and such. I would hate to live or work in a room that cold.
