At one time, I had a friend(he has passed)who had a dog who could sit and rest his ‘chin’ on the table. My friend, reminded the dog that he wasn’t supposed to ‘beg’ at the table and the dog went over and laid down on the floor looking at us at the table.

In my house it’s the opposite. He would feed his dog in a heart beat but the dog knew he wouldn’t get anything from me.
