Well…we ARE getting everyone in here now, aren’t we?!! Diet Smith as a chauffeur, plus Willie the Fifth & Flyface (who I wouldn’t stirring my pot of soup/chili – or WHATEVER!) Looking at it again, I’m sure I wouldn’t want Fifth’s cigar ashes in whatever he is serving either! No matter what, I’m still loving this interlude! In my opinion, I think that Chester Gould would be fascinated and approve!

@AnyFace said: “‘Boss Tracy’ still in shadow …”You had brought this to our attention a couple of days ago, and now that I think about it, you’re right. All of “Tracy’s” appearances have been in shadow.

This could be a clue as to whose dream or altered reality this is. (I’m still guessing it is an induced nightmare courtesy of Abner Kadaver. It is almost Halloween, after all.)

“New” characters: Diet Smith first appeared January 2, 1946, but of course we’ve seen a lot of him lately. It looks like he’s Boss Tracy’s chauffeur in this Midnite Mirror.

Flyface and Willie the Fifth first appeared in the Fall of 1959 and they may be the most recent characters in this scenario so far. They did appear in a story in 2011 also, but then they were both killed.

I wouldn’t really want them serving me food, either, but I suppose you can’t always be picky at a soup kitchen.

What if BOSS TRACY is really JUNIOR?! We have no idea the progression of time in this universe. Think of it – Tracy killed Flattop and Flattop Jr came after him years later. So what if The Chalice Killed Tracy Sr and now Junior is in charge?

If Mike is running parallel, this might be the case – thus the not yet reval of Tracy’s face.

I still think it is Dick Tracy’s dream. With the mention of Junior’s name, he is aso a possibility but I still call it the evil within DT.Jonathan K. must be right that this might connected to Abner Kadaver. This is probably the plan that Abner mentioned to Bribery.I am still hoping for a Sunday reveal but the story is not moving fast enough for that.

I’ve been watching the Lone Ranger on one of those stations that shows old reruns every day. In the episodes when the Lone Ranger takes off his mask and puts on a disguise, our unnamed character today looks a lot like Clayton Moore with a beard and big bushy eyebrows.

-———————————————— I’m still loving this interlude! In my opinion, I think that Chester Gould would be fascinated and approve!”-————————————————-Perhaps Chet would? But then, perhaps (on recalling what “worked well” over the years) he wouldn’t ?

I guess it would ‘depend’ on the purpose of the Dream? Sequence, or this Movie? (or Play?) or rehearsal ? They’re not the originals, not real and most of the ‘characters’ appearing are Long Dead !The point that it was LIKELY one of those speculations, became readily ‘apparent’, and I’d think, easily ‘realized’ by most after week ONE! ?

Two weeks more of the ‘same thing’ with new faces to deepen the same point doesn’t do ANY more than ‘increase’ reader WAITING TIME for SUBSTANCE (and may even trigger ‘irritation’?) . . .A need NOW to GET to the POINT, for Readers to find out what’s “cooking” in the Kitchen, It’s only ‘stretching out’ meaningless activity to make ‘not a thing more’ than the same point at the end ?Perhaps they’ll take a whole MONTH to do so ?That’s ‘Two-thirds’ of a TMS’ (desired) story line time, yet ‘Nothing REAL’ (no crime) has yet occurred in Tracyville? It’s always a CRIME that gets things in Tracy ‘moving’Currently story ‘engine’ is just “idling” and ‘gears’ not “engaged” Main story Still to Start !Just the pleasantry of a USO type show for the troops, by seeing how well Joe Staton “draws” these historic figures.

This long wait this apparent flirtation with a new “story format” gives me pause . . . A worry perhaps, do a ‘toying’ with a departure from things ‘tried’, *’tested’, say, like a known FORMULA that’s worked in strip, every time - and used for 84 years . . . starting, before anyone here was Born !

My concern is, this is all a prelude into setting a “Mystery” in Dick Tracy, following a murder (still to come), going down into a “Who Done it” moad? !

Sadly, that might lead to yet another ‘miss-step’ on the DOWN Escalator . . .Means your Villain ‘design’ likely comes as a PLAIN George (or Jenny)? so, readers can’t identify him /her/ easily. You got to wait, not getting the ‘Big Surprise’ until the very end.

If SO ? Seems that come with a Hidden Benefit . . .Nice ‘rewarding’ ‘side step’ - as the Authors automatically AVOID the need to create the traditional “stand out” Rouge for this event ,“Groan !That’s not Dick Tracy !And as you contemplate it all. you realize that the only ‘Impressive’, Rogue ‘design’ brought in this year is T-Bolt, yet “wasted” in the sense that, it is only a Lee Ebony “disguise” !

Diet Smith, chauffer. What a demotion in this universe for him.

    Boss Tracy still in shadow.

Yngvar mentioned something previously—“Saturday is Halloween, good time for the reveal, which I suspect may involve seeing Boss Tracy’s face.”

What face would we see, we wonder?

Some say scarring, others (like me) say facial hair, like a villain-style moustache. But since we are close to Halloween, and Abner Cadaver figures so much here, another thought occurred to me: the big “BOO!” moment, when we see Boss Tracy’s face, is it the skeletal Abner Cadaver’s? And Boss Tracy’s main squeeze: Rikki?

Again, it’s wild and silly speculating on my part, and I’m gonna give Vista Bill fits, I’m sure.

So, sorry in advance, Vista Bill! Glad you are doing okay!

Nice to see Flyface and Fifth again. I was glad to see Team Tracy bring them back in their 1st story. But it was such a short story and a rather unlikely plot. Since the two crooks were doing so well in their new life it seemed odd that they would risk it by killing a cop. I didn’t like the ending either because I hoped they’d be kept alive to use again.
