Girl: How can you stand the cold water? How do you handle it? Frazz: They tell me swim hard and don't stop. Girl: You're a shark! Frazz: Move or die! Girl: No, I mean about the small prehistoric brain. Frazz: And conveniently thick skin.
Sometimes single-mindedness can look unintelligent, but being as much of a torpedo as you can in icy waters is actually intelligent. Unless you run out of power and freeze in place. I have to admire Frazz, and also for his thick shark skin to cold and insults!
I can’t be sure, but I think today’s strip borders on being self deprecating, unless he is bragging about having a thick skin. I guess we all look through the filter of preconceived notions, therefore we find different things to focus on. Comics, like any other art, is subjective. As for BP, I have to say it, if you left, some of us would miss your comments. Personally it helps me see sides of a situation I would not otherwise see.
I’d agree. I know that at my school, kids were always asking the teachers questions about what their hobbies and interests. (Sailing for the Fourth Grade Teacher, Art for the 5th, Sports for the 6th) When the 3rd grade teacher was getting married, all her class wanted to know what her wedding was going to be like. As Frazz is as close of a friend to the kids as the teachers, I’d imagine he gets asked that sort of thing too.

I learned to swim in a icecap-fed lake in the mountains of Idaho. You don’t swim in water that cold…you tipetoe across the top.
