Does anyone know why GoComics alternates between .GIF and .JPG formatted images for the Nemo pages? There doesn’t seem to be any logical reason for it.
The Adventures of Little Nemo, Flip, and George....George Ruth..(I can’t find a rookie lefty from the 1908 season who might have inspired this guest character.)
I feel silly for not noticing the pattern before, but daily .GIF and Sunday .JPG does make sense for normal (modern) strips, in which the dailies are colored by the syndicate (using solid colors), whereas many Sunday strips now permit the cartoonists to use “fade” effects, which a .JPG might be able to store more efficiently.…This strategy still doesn’t make any sense at all for Nemo, of course, since all of these strips are scanned from paper archives.
