Dream on, Irvine, dream on.

Irving is 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th …) place to shoes.
Cathy is 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th …) place to electronics.
At least Irving has his priorities better in line with reality.

Oh, I don’t know Aaron, I think both their priorities are skewed…

This isn’t really all that over-the-top (it will be tomorrow, I’m sure). I don’t care for shoes, but admit that even I sometimes want to take one of my favorite outfits or books or camera or another inanimate object on vacation. You can see them as part of your trip, and in some ways they are so much more reliable than your human partner- they don’t fight with you or get sick.

Maybe if you paid more attention to her than your electronics, then she’d reciprocate, Irving.

Oh, please, like you don’t act the same way about your electronics.

She’s an ox. The most magnificent sandals are a waste on her. Why doesn’t she just wear flip-flops and a miou-miou, or some elastic-waist pants? Or alternatively, order a freakin’ salad every once in a while, without the bacon bits.

And I’ll bet you have a NO FAT CHICKS bumper sticker on your truck.
(did I say that out loud?)

Hizzonner: actually Cathy doesn’t look all that plump in this series. Her weight seems to vary a lot depending on the current plot-line–there are some strips (usually involving dieting and/or swimsuit shopping) in which she seems to be about the shape of a weather balloon, while in others (usually involving Irving and possessions) she’s more or less normally proportioned. Given how quickly her weight changes (sometimes by the equivalent of two or three hundred pounds) from one week to the next, there must be a so-far undiscovered Law of Cartoon Physics operating here.
