A hooker went to a hotel and put down $100.00 for a room. The manager grabbed the $100 bill and ran to the butcher to pay for the steaks for the hotel restaurant. The butcher then ran to pay the mechanic $100 for repairing his delivery truck. The mechanic quickly took the $100 and paid the judge for a traffic ticket, and the Judge took the money to the hotel to pay for a room he used last week. The hooker returns to the hotel desk, and gets her money back because her appointment didn’t show up and she didn’t use the room. So everyone is happy, and no one got screwed.
This reminds me of “That Phony Nickel,” a bonus comic strip that ran below “Little Orphan Annie.” It was a strip about a fake nickel that kept passing hands. Here’s a sample.

No one got screwed that’s not a very happy ending. But a good joke.

Problem is - the government collected taxes on each transaction except the hooker’s (it was a non-transaction).
Sounds like justification for bartering.
