Interesting back & forth there. And I find it odd that Tracy wouldn’t have said, “It’s funny. You don’t look like ME without the makeup.”

This feels oddly like one of those old RKO “Tracy” movies.

Also, I’m hearing Byrd’s lines as being read by Adam West.

I’m surprised there aren’t any references to Warren Beatty in this strip. Not necessarily this storyline, mind you.

Good morning, Tracy fans boys and girls! It’s only me or I sense some homo-erotic undertone, here? Nice lad, anyway

Gweedo remarked,Hooray on getting Comet all Groomed and ready to rumble !-————————————————————————-.G’morning Gweedo! I hope I don’t get bored and start on Shadow (Comet’s backup). At the age of 81, I’m not up to the challenge emotionally or financially. Comet has been a pleasurable endeavor. Every computer geek hopes for their “dream machine” and I have mine! Bedtime now.

Byrd is holding an envelope in one hand.

    A Clue …?

There was an All My Children story years ago, where one of the villains found an out-of-work actor who very much resembled a deceased character, and the villain employed the actor to be transformed – via makeup – into a perfect likeness of the deceased character (… in those sequences portrayed by the actor who originated the role!) for “Gaslight” purposes.

I just made my head hurt. :(

@Jim in CT. Only me? Oh, too bad! If it’s not a billet doux, what does that handsome Tracy’s doppelganger hold in that envelope?

I’ve posted this before, but not lately …

Here’s the “Dick Tracy”-inspired sequence from ALL MY CHILDREN where a revenge-crazed Erica Kane traps renowned heart surgeon Dr. David Hayward’s hand in a vice, threatening that he’ll “Never be able to hold a scalpel again!”

Morgan Byrd, stop it! You’re looking and sounding way too goody-goody to fit my hypothesis that you are The Hangman!

If Tracy and Byrd are cooperating on some sting, such as suggested by JonahHex, Tracy must have reason to trust this actor. I don’t, despite his boyishly charming smile….

Good to see the Patterson Playhouse back in tip-top shape. Gruesome did some damage with his bomb, although this barely ruffled the love birds’ feathers.

Tracy was eager to hear the wordEmanating from this actor ByrdWhose comparison to him was quite absurdTalent’s a breath that’s no longer heard“Movie Magic?” give me a breakDoesn’t compare to what comics can makeOne panel can show me in back of this flakeAnd then POOF! I’m next to him a panel’s all that it’ll takeFairness is truly a Dinosauric themeHidden behind some age covering creamHopefully things aren’t as bleak as they seemAnd freedom is more than a Mel Gibson dream.

Byrd is left-handed, judging by the watch seen on his right wrist in two of today’s panels.

Tracy is right-handed, as yesterday’s strip underscored with two panels in which his wrist wizard is conspicuous on his left wrist.

    Byrd’s face in half-shadow in panel #1.

Tracy’s face in full shadow in panel #2

Then full lighting in panel #3.

I liked how Team Tracy used shadows in the artwork to keep us guessing until the “face-to-face.”

Perhaps this will lead to Tracy to play the role of “Boss Tracy” to infiltrate the filming and find out who the murderer is? They may not look exactly alike, but as Byrd has said, “movie magic.”

The envelope in Byrd’s hand—Hangman’s threat to the stars to stop filming or else?

I was just catching up on some comments, and was surprised to find one from Sunday by Nicola Cuti.-Could that be the same Nicola Cuti who wrote the E-Man stories Joe Staton illustrated for Charleton Comics?(I still have the E-Man poster he autographed for me at a New York comic con!)

    Dear Jim,

Yes, I’m one and the same. JOE STATON, who did the artwork for E-Man and Dick Tracy is an old, dear friend and collaborator. I can’t resist a comment here and there about his strip. Like for example, is the BYRD character in his strip based on the actor RALPH BYRD who did play a fictional detective in a TV series. I wish I could recall the name of the detective. Ah, well.

    Best,

    Nick
