I don’t think that Linus had that version of “The Great Pumpkin” quite in mind.

Reminds me of Milhouse Van Houten and “The Grand Pumpkin” a few Treehouse of Horrors ago.

Great Pumpkin is a bit of a misnomer, since he’s not an actual pumpkin. He derived it from his title of Pumpkin King. There’s a 1993 documentary about how he began his present-giving tradition, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
