So yes, Clive was a surrogate baby. No surprise. Maybe now she can get past it.

“Holly!! Snap out of it!!!”Not the best way Wally could have handled that. Still, he’s an engineer, not a shrink and I’d imagine he was a little wired after having mutts and whatnot depriving him of his sleep. I would have suggested trying to comfort her somehow talk to her and ask about the baby. Still, given his lack of sleep and the life or death situation Wally finds himself in, I can understand if he didn’t pick up on the fact that Holly gave him an opening.Curiously, it seems that Kirbee’s slapping Holly was more helpful than Holly’s decking Flask.

So sad when it happens to a good person. Jim was really a decent person too, but not like Holly.

I think we’re going to see what happened to Holly on “The Day Things Went to Heck”; and how she found the emotional burden which she has never shed up to now. I don’t think this shows weakness in Holly. On the contrary, it shows how strong she is to be able to function at all…considering the burden. My opinion, anyway.

And…. there’s the real reason she was all OCD with Clive. Now, can we all stop dealing with the loss of a brain so we can deal with the stealth technology overhead?

I meant to comment yesterday at the look on Kirbee’s face when she hit Holly. She looked like she really didn’t want to, but had limited options and went with what she thought might be best/fastest. It was a great look. There was no meanness in it.

@Cheapskate0 – ‘I’ refers to Jim’s final words as he was dying on the chandelier as it fell burning into the arena. As for the slap, there was no intent to bring Holly out of her insanity merely a means of protecting Chic from one crazy mouse. You don’t wait for an insane person to attack you intervene when a attack is imminent.

If that’s a meteor, comet, or asteroid coming in, that’s not how it looks. I was going to work the morning something like that came screaming across the atmosphere near Portland a few years back and the bright light in my rear view mirrors was blinding. When it passed it sounded like a herd of wild freight trains stampeding across the sky.I don’t know about Aaron Marx showing up, but maybe it’s a bunch of sock puppets looking for their sole mates.

Rocket exhaust, or, at least a comic art convention of a rocket exhaust. As a FYI, most military rockets nowadays are solid fuel, with substantial smoke trails that would be dramatically illuminated by the hot exhaust- however, the burn time tends to be short, so by the time they approach a target they are gliding/falling with little or no smoke or flame. Those that do have longer burn time/power to target try to be nearer to flamless/smokeless. But at the same time, are going so fast that the victims have barely enough time to even see the thing before it hits. (in the real world, targeted troops usually have little more than a flicker in the distance then Bang! timing) As we are in the world of comic art convention, this could be a strike rocket, but as we are also in the world of Aaron, it could be the arrival of almost anything.

Holly has to deal with the outgoing straight away, because they got incoming!Clive was Holly’s surrogate child.. A stuffed animal would have sufficed instead of a stuffed brain.Whether spun from Polyester or Polymericaminoacid substrate. Holly’s symbolic child was given a impromptu burial by Kirbee…Really, it was the kindest thing she could have done for Holly..Besides that well needed slap….But Holly’s grief wasn’t done, we’ve all seen the anger stage and then some! Now, hopefully will come acceptance, and right quick!

I thought of many ways this scene with with Holly’s mental breakdown could end. I thought of slaps and fights and tears, but the one thing I hadn’t thought of was that they would all be suddenly squashed by a giant meteor.

Look at the stars in the sky. They are random except to the lower left of the aberration. In that area there are no stars. I would guess they are being blanked out by an object roughly cylindrical in shape. We could be looking at another of what the group was walking toward before nightfall.

Or it could be a missile.

What have we seen so far in this strip that can fly? Those Topsider aerial drones, or whatever they are…some more massive Topsider things, brought in when they destroyed that already-dead mutant community…and the Opabinia Queen. I’m hoping for the latter.

At first I was thinking that Wally could have been a little gentler on Holly. She’s coming to terms with losing her baby and he says “Just snap out of it!” Then the rocket/missile thing came into view reminding me that folks out here often don’t have time for gentle.

To the folks that say lunar eclypse… look closer, the stars ahead of the brightness are blocked out… thats a missile or vessel of some sort. Either way, I dont think they want to be anywhere near when it lands… or impacts…
