    This is a historical comic strip. If you wanted to cut out everything that is not “politically correct” today, there wouldn’t be much left.

    Ponder what “politically incorrect” things might be said about Americans 100 years from now. There is a grain of truth in stereotypes.

    It may be true that McCay could have waited till they got to the islands for the cannibals, but the opium dens of Chinatown were a fact and still a relatively new phenomenon in this country at the time.

    You don’t want to see cannibals or opium dens, but Esquimeaux and red Indians in blankets are fine? Go figure.Besides, those Hottentots have been trouble for some time in this strip.
