The Republicans have depended on Tea Party types for years, getting them to vote against their economic best interest by claiming the “Family Values” banner. Once they were elected, they forgot about “Family Values”, or used it as a negotiating tool until the next time they needed volunteers. They didn’t need for the Tea Party to raise money for them, which worked out well, since they were Middle Class and making less money every year. The 1%ers owned the actual Republican party and provided the financing. After a couple of generations of this, the Tea Party types figured out that they were being played for fools. But they weren’t quite as stupid as the Republicans gave them credit for being. Instead of forming their own party, they realized that they were the majority of the actual voters in the Republican party, and could just take it over. Now, the fight is between the guys who will follow the 1%ers orders and the guys who have no clue what to do if they ever actually became president, and consequently will be manipulated by the 1%ers anyway.
