    I’ve had Coopers and Sharp-shinned hawks work our feeders but mostly we have Red-shouldered hawks that work the doves over.My wife gets mad because they are eating our birds…but I remind her that the hawks have to eat too.Best thing I saw was a Red-tail hitting a squirrel. That will teach that tree rat to get on a bird feeder.

    This one made me think about one of Larson’s old Far Side strips, where the pilot says to the co-pilot something like, “Saaaaaay, what are those mountain goats doing way up here in the clouds?”

    they do look quite similar, but they’re different genuses (genii?). and in case anyone asks, japanese tits used to be a subspecies of great tits, but now they’re classified as just so-so tits…

    I prefer great tits, if I have a choice…
