Brutus: Chief, would you say that after all these years, I'm still functioning at peak efficiency?
Mr. Veeblefester: Let me put it this way...
Mr. Veeblefester: If you were a Toyota, you would have been recalled!
We’ve owned a Chevy (‘79 Mailibu)…Mom bought it new, sold it to me at 85K miles, we sold it at 124K.Next car was a brand-new 1986 Hyundai Excel. It crapped out under dubious diagnosis at 68K (never trusted a dealership for repairs again!)’83 Toyota Tercel hatchback: Bought it with 93K on it, scrapped it with 240K.’94 Corolla sedan: Bought it with 58K, gave it to our daughter at 200K, she scrapped it at 315K.’88 Corolla FX: bought it with 110K, engine blew at 140K.’91 Corolla wagon: bought it with 110K, still running at 200K.2009 Honda Fit (we’re tired of red Corollas): just bought it with 34K on it. We’ll see how the Honda holds up against the Toyotas.Growing up, my family always had Chevies and Fords, all went over 100K, but none over 125K. I just don’t trust American cars yet.
