I’ll have to look up how the whole egging thing started. It’s great that some like to pass out candy but no one’s obligated. I don’t pass out candy because I’m taking my younger kids out – some just may not be able to afford it or choose not to.
Trick or Treating as we know it started in an effort to get the young hooligans off the street and out of mischief. These kids used to set fire to buildings as a Halloween “prank”. In today’s world, if you told a kid “trick” instead of giving him candy, he would start crying. And you would probably be arrested for “injuring” a child’s delicate sensibilities.
