Perhaps the criticism is a bit harsh. I enjoy the reruns greatly. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve laughed at those from C&H, Get Fuzzy and others. Good art well executed is a joy forever. Even if it’s no longer a surprise.
I believe the strike was not long after I joined GoComics, and that was in 2007, so this is possibly accurate. Then again my memory is rather, er … what were we talking about again?
Whenever I find myself getting irritated because my favorites are in re-run, I try to think about the cartoonist’s job. Coming up with something funny every single day, week after week, year after year…the pressure must be enormous.

If not a strike then why is this cartoonist not making new strips? ( apart from Sundays)

Darby breaks the fourth wall! And was it really 2007 – 8 years ago – that the writer’s strike took place?

They ended the strike? Hard to tell with the shows that are on these days.“There is nothing new under the satellite dish”

I’m glad cartoonists aren’t on strike. It would be hard without Garfield and Heathcliff.

No writer’s strike means he will have to go somewhere else to steal jokes.

I wonder if Darby had planned his retirement when this first appeared?

Kind of ironic. Since there haven’t been any new ones in the daily strips for the past couple of years. Only on the Sunday ones.
