Our dog was rescued…came all the way from Alabama to northern Maine last year. Our cat was a “drop-off” we adopted…..although it may have been the other way around with the cat.

One of the cardiologists with whom I worked would tell patients they needed to walk more, and then give them the name and address of the closest animal shelter. “Get a dog. You’ll save him life, and he’ll save yours.”

on black friday and over the weekend, many shelters are having low cost or free adoptions. What a great idea for those of you that could use a friend

My daughter has a ranch. They have cats. 13 that people have dropped off. Most not spayed or neutered. But they get them neutered as soon as they can tame them. I have 5 strays I feed in my neighborhood. It is a college town and the students get cute kittens and do not neuter. And a number of years ago I had 13. Illness came and thinned the group. We adopted a few in the house and they were spayed. Heartbreaking!
