As best I recall, the Nixon – Kennedy debates were more like real debates, and we had, at least, some reasoned discourse from both sides, and civil interchange all the way around. The last, say, 20 years, or so, we’re getting more and more shouting and snarking. To the point where it’s somewhere between a beauty contest and an ugly contest. This year, it’s a Republican circus. Maybe because of less candidates, it is less painful to watch the Democrats, but it is the same process. Worse yet, if we did not have “debates”, that leaves us with commercials, talk radio, the internet and cable channels…….Sigh.

And the Democratic debate planning includes keeping Lessig out at all costs. He has some REAL points to make, and is more of an outsider than Trump or Carson. ’The media worships the media and the money it makes. They run with opinions and cute ideas until they become “facts.” For example, I saw no reason to say Rubio won points over Bush. He only had the last word. ’And the pollsters doing Democrats are determined to keep Biden on the list to be asked about and continue listing some who left the race (just for some drama for their readership). .Meanwhile they do not even ask about Lessig. That way there is no possibility that he can poll even 1% for the debate. .He is simply not an option the pollsters or the media would like.
