I had about 15 trick or treaters, first time in 2 years. I purposely bought candy I don’t like, and will leave it at the post office today. Yesterday’s picture of the cat sofa reminded me that decades ago I did snuggle into a huge beautiful and lazy TIGER laying on the floor of his owner’s home. I apparently was, and probably still am, too stupid to be afraid. I remember that he was so much longer than I all stretched out and sure wish I had a picture!
Happy November everyone! I had a black cat named Ink. He was a very smart and loving cat. Unfortunately, he developed cancer and we ended up having to put him down when he was around 10-12 years old. Still feels like a dagger in my heart just thinking about it.
@Jessegooddoggy: Last night’s comment about how your Ruby still hasn’t accepted the other cats. I know how you feel. Some take longer than others. But it WILL happen. She may have had some experiences in the past that formed her catitude…I am positive cousin Emma, my daughter’s cat, went through hell before coming to us. It has taken Emma literally years to stop attacking 1) me, 2) the dog, 3) my cats. This year was the breakthrough. I know you will keep giving Ruby all the adoration and love she deserves and needs and time will do the rest.
We ended up with 45 kids (and their parents) who braved the downpour. We usually get around 200. Lucky kids got fists fulls of candy!Umbrellas were the norm, no rain jackets covering up the costumes!
I have a very loving all black cat named Molly. She is my Girl! She came from ROFF, youngest son and I went there in July of 2008 to get one cat as a playmate for our Christmas Eve cat we named Mittens because of her white paws, she is a gray long hair. She was already fixed, declawed and wearing a flea collar, standing there on our porch when we came home from Christmas Eve Mass. Never could find her owner, we figure her people were visiting for Christmas and she escaped from whatever house she was staying at. Anyway, I wanted Molly, Joey wanted Bella, a long haired black and white cutie, so we came home with both. Then a couple years later the 2 bros came along, found our Catalpa tree at about 2 weeks old. I know you all have this whole story before, oh well. Now son is moving out to his own space, he really did a lot to raise the bros, college kid home for the summer, getting up every day at 4 am to make the formula and bottle feed the bros, etc. so when he moves, I guess we will share custody and see how they like it. Hopefully, they will still want to come back here for a couple weeks a month as well. I hate to give them up, but he is their daddy. Good thing he will only be 2 miles away, LOL!
And now oldest son has 4 cats of his own, rescues again! Guess it runs in the family, but I must admit, I miss having dogs and hope someday soon to fit one into this oddball family of ours! :-)
We have a feral black cat who was found after its littermates had been collected. It was being raised by a family of raccoons. It’s name, of course is Rocky.
I too have a black cat Sheba. We found her at the SPCA and she was waving through the cage bars as if to say, “I’m right here! Take me!” She had tapeworm, fleas and respiratory illness, when we adopted her. I’m sure they would have put her down if we hadn’t taken her as they aren’t known for keeping sick cats. We’ve had her since 2009 and she is wonderful. >^..^<
Oh, and my feral back porch kitty who I just call Black Kitty. But he does come to eat when I yell, “Black Kitty Black Kitty!”at 8 or 9 am. (My neighbors must hate me, lol) >^..^<

All rested up from a 2 day drive. Have a lovely view of gorgeous trees. Just kind of relaxing today and waiting to make plans to see LROS.

We had a handful of kids come to the door last night. Chris handed out the fun size chocolate bars. That’s his department.
