A cute little game simple enough so that his teacher can get it but be annoyed for the extra effort she has to put in.I feel for Caulfield. He may be a comic character, but there are plenty of kids who learn to carry that attitude deep into their adult lives, often to their own great detriment.

If the bubbles are not filled in, his grade: A “0”. Let’s see if his buttons get pushed then.

Couldn’t “rolling doubles” mean AA BB CC DD? Does that work?

The answers leave an odd number of D bubbles so it doesn’t seems like it would work with rolling doubles.

Step back and look at how much math and analysis Jef has gotten you to do so far. Quite a big return on investment.

If I remember correctly Caulfield’s teacher once compared him to his uncle and all the trouble she made for her. Later when Caulfield was talking to Frazz he was wondering if he should consider that to be a compliment since his uncle is an award winning author.

Now if “add” were replaced with some combination of three a’s and one d, I’d have it. But I can’t come up with a medical diagnosis that could be confused with creativity using those 4 letters. If I could, the answer would be:abc aa bb cc dd acdc aa bb cc dd abba aa bb cc dd aaad aa bb cc dd bbc

I’m assuming that the “aging Swedish poppy pop” refers to ABBA, “Wide World of Sports” is ABC, “Dr Who” is the BBC, but I don’t know the other two.
