    That about sums it up. It is no doubt a very prestigious “get” for the museum and will draw big crowds who may not know Art but who recognize Something Big as a Big Thing….

    Few people realize Meddick understands the brainwashing that makes us think junk is some kind of art. He does a great job spoofing it.

    One of my art teachers referred to the majority of public sculptures as “the t-rd in the plaza,” and traces their origin to some rich company desiring to put something visible in the public square.

    At the same time, the college across town had two or three huge granite rocks named something like “Ninety” and “Forty-Five,” corresponding with the angles at which they sat. A student donned mountaineering gear and made a full ascent of the big one.
