I’m atoning for MY frugality this Christmas for a change. Maybe I’ll buy myself both socks AND shorts this year! I asked myself, “What would HE do?” And I think HE would!
The pants wouldn’t be so bad, it’s a Norwegian pattern with stars and reindeer, in red, white and black. I’ll put them into my boots, than you can’t see the ankles!!
Once there was a king who sent two of his ambassadors to a meeting of great importance in a far country. One of the ambassadors wanted so desperately to be the first to report back to the king, that he left the meeting early, before he really knew anything. He rushed, pushing all others aside, to stand before the king in great haste. Breathlessly, he opened his mouth and found that he had absolutely nothing worthwhile to report. The second ambassador stayed until the meeting was complete, then returned and calmly stood before the king and explained everything the king needed to know. And so, dear friend, you see that being first, with nothing to say, really doesn’t mean that much.
In a way I’m so glad that the season of frenzied commercialism and acquisition is between Thanksgiving and Christmas—it means that those of us who celebrate the original Christmas can do so in peace and joy.

I am praying for the day, when I can atone for my frugality.

Calvin obviously has a rather long “Get” list, rather than any “Give” list!
