Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for December 17, 2015

Today, Calvin’s mom makes her final appearance in Calvin and Hobbes. And, as is often the case when Calvin is involved, Mom is left holding the bag.Today’s strip first appeared on December 21st, 1995. Beginning on the following day, and continuing through Bill Watterson’s final strip, the only regular characters who appeared in Calvin and Hobbes were……… Calvin and Hobbes.

There’s something about this particular strip that has always been a curiosity to me. If Galaxoid and Nebular are just part of Calvin’s imagination, who knocked on the door? And why is he hiding the aliens from her? Wouldn’t he want to show them off? Let everyone know where that leaf collection came from?

Or maybe I’m just reading too much into it :P

Hobbes will be in need urgently!!

Oh, c’mon Calvin – let Mom see! (Think of the trouble you’d cause the entire planet… on hyperdrive, yet!)

Hobbes kills and eat the aliens (good with a little seasoning) and Calvin takes their ship and becomes Spaceman Spiff!

@packratjohn, I have that problem too if I try to go through my browser link. The scroll bar fails to appear on the right side. But, if I access the comic through my home page on the site, or through the A-Z list, the scroll controls appear and work. So, try to access the comic a different way than what you usually use. It’s really weird, I know – only this comic.

Any reply from a child that begins with “AAHH! um..uh…” should be immediately investigated

Calvin won’t eat Girl Scout cookies unless they’re twice as sweet as Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs (because Girl Scout cookies have Girl Scout cooties!)

Calvin could have knocked on the door himself but what would his motive be?

I would feel uncomfortable going door to door to complete strangers and ask for money.

Glad I don’t live in America.

I don’t seem to have any problem scrolling. I just use two fingertips on the Mac mouse pad and it works just fine…
