    They asked for it to be tabled, as in put off for later. Not disapproved without further discussion. Big difference. Either way, I approve of the decision.

    Canada wanted to use the Keystone pipeline to export its oil to Asia. However, the citizens of British Columbia made it politically impossible to build a pipeline to the Pacific through their province. They didn’t want either the potential environmental risks, or encourage more tar sands oil extraction.

    So the Keystone folks thought it’d be a good idea to take the easier route through the US. Trouble is, energy extraction technology moved way faster, and oil prices fell so far that the pipeline became way less profitable, rendering tar sands oil less competitive despite the huge sunk cap ex in place in Alberta.

    Pipelines are safer than rail, no doubt. But it’s probably not wise to run this pipeline right over the largest aquifer in the US when we don’t need the oil, the jobs created are both small and transitory, and the Canadians “could” have built the pipeline through their own province had their own citizens not blocked this alternative. Besides, all the oil is intended for export in any event, so the benefits to the US would have been nominal in any event.

    Actually, Warren Buffet owns the rail line (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) which brings in most of the oil. If Keystone was approved, he would have lost big dollars. Warren Buffet is also a MAJOR contributor to the Democratic National Committee (he gives more but is more quiet than Soros). So on Buffet’s orders, Keystone was killed.

    It’s all puppets and puppet masters. Both parties. Trust neither. Politicians will not do what is best for the nation, they do what is best for their pockets. The Left takes filthy lucre from the same 1% whom they supposedly despise. The so-called 1% could care less about Hillary’s rhetoric, as they know she is very eager to accept bribes. She and Bill even take them from both the Saudis and the Iranians.

    As they say, gold knows no party or caste. Gold is gold.

    @TwclixYour post is very real and intelligent, however if I may, I would like to mention a couple of items you missed, yes, pipe lines are safer, and the existing pipe lines are decaying very rapidly, so even without Keystone you’ll have enviromental disasters. The new technology would have solve that problem, not totally but in a great measure. What remain to see now is if the new Alberta NDP government and the new Liberal federal government will have the vision to set up adecuate refineries to manufacture a more desirable product. But, knowing their mentality, they will shut down everything, and increase taxes to compensate for the loss of revenue. It will take at least another four years for Canadians and Albertans to start to see the end of tunnel they just got in to.

    One benefits the US; the other benefits nobody you would ever know.

    Uh, TransCanada beat him to the punch by asking to delay or withdraw their application, market forces, not politics.(or the environmental issues)

    Odd how RWNJs won’t recognize market forces working against the Keystone pipeline.

    [ Looks like Koch Industries will just have to wait some more years before/if their investment in Alberta tar sands wil pay off. }

    sad to note that liberals do not understand markets // the Canada oil once refined will enter the global market along with all other oil and go to high bid

    “……It is the lowest of the low end of petroleum products. …..”.No. There are 13 fields in California that are dirtier. The Placerita oil field outside L.A. is twice as dirty. Petroleum refined from heavy oil is very common throughout the globe. It all can’t be sweet light Brent..“…..And quadruples the pollution and GHGs…..”.No, don’t just make it up. GHG from burning oil from the oil sands represents about .1% of total global emissions.
