When we first met Wally, he was a “stray cat”, surviving alone in the great waste; and actually happy with that. He blames himself for cosquences of choices he was forced to make. Some of these choices were between a terrible result, and a not-so-bad one. Poor guy. Nice bed though.

I haven’t looked back at that strip, but I could swear she forced that on him, and he just went along, as he said, to keep her safe.

I like the way Kirbee is concerned about Holly. Given the things Holly has said about her and the fact that Holly argued that they should leave Kirbee on her own, that says a lot about Kirbee’s character. In a way, she and Holly may not be that different.

Yeah, the mental health support in the apocalypse is bad, but at least you don’t have to worry about waiting 3+ months to not see a doctor.

Love the way that Wally’s enhanced dittos have created a solid bed for Holly to rest on.

Ok, we have a timeline. Less than 60 days since the attempted jump off the clock tower. Holly decided to leave Endtown the next day and they’ve been on the surface ever since. 1-2 days in Albion West, another 3-4 days in Unity. All the rest has been spent walking or riding in Clive. The Milk Trial ended just before the Clock Tower incident. It’s not that surprising that Holly would still be a mess, no matter how much she tries to cover that up with a carefree demeanor.

The dittos are definitely getting stronger. Wait until they unionize.

Kirbee while a simple soul feels more than most. Her empathy is way above the normal chart.Let them sleep……time comes soon enough to face the facts.Wally knows it quite well.No food, no water, out in the open in unknown territory.Only protection is big mass of dittos. If they are going to die……they can die in the shade.

Same place that wanted to hang her for baking a cake. How about no?

Didn’t Holly keep a cheese stash someplace in her apartment?

Yep, it would be great if they had more help, but going back to Endtown is a big risk in itself. Guess we’ll see what the next colony will bring.

Speaking of which, I wonder what’s been happening with poor Linda. No doubt that jackrabbit will make her life a living heck. :o/

It may not be intentional, but Kirbee’s likely to try to hug Wally and make him feel better, and draw his feelings further toward her. Not necessarily away from Holly, but all their relationships are shifting.

My guess and I think Kirbee has guessed too, that Holly had been pregnant with her and Wally’s child but lost it. Would explain a lot.

Wally can’t blame himself for this. Since Holly was leaving with or without him.The only other alternative would have been to run get Doc. Chase and put her on some heavy duty psych meds. That might have been better in retrospect. He is really suffering over this.It is heartening to see that they have realized that Holly was/is sick and are not mad at her for acting like a crazy person. When your world stops making sense you Are crazy. These days many people are holding on by a string.

I’m liking Kirbee more and more. She seems entirely guileless and decent (and more resourceful than one might think at first). Good to see Holly break through that first wall this week, too.

Nice character development, Aaron. The artwork is always top-notch but it’s the way we get to KNOW the individuals through the flow of the story that makes this such a unique strip. As frustrating as the pace can be, we’d miss a lot if it wasn’t deliberate and we might not care as much.

Y’know, given the way political events in Endtown were going, they may have killed each other off and there may be no Endtown to return to…

Looking back, I count about 6 characters who have died as a consequence of something Wally did, or didn’t do— since Wally entered the strip. He was a witness to them all. They are: Leo, Ian(TS), assorted MUTTs, the “teacher”, Flask, Phil Belicac, Sarah. He never desired any of the deaths- but they weigh on him.

I just hope they find some place with food and water. Otherwise our little group is in a world of hurt.
