Agrestic, as to your screaming yesterday, Like it or not the USSR has been able to keep anyone from moving across it’s western border for 70 years now and I believe that they would say, “yes it was a good thing to install puppet states to protect the border.” For God’s sake look at history. As for talking about Africans and Native Americans, the ones that chose to get an education have turned out wonderfully. We have businessmen, doctors, lawyers, teachers etc. If you wish live in the past or just do what you what, you’ll never amount to anything. As for your insinuation that it’s not a small amount of bad cops, If the press coverage keeps the rare bad cop in the public’s eyes forever it just seems as though there are a lot more that there actually are.
In Chicagoland, Meijer stores opened at six yesterday morning. I drove by a K mart and a walmart yesterday that were open with crowded parking lots. People are nuts.
I wonder how many of them want someone like Donald Trump as president?
Those with fascistic tendencies (and even some prominent Republicans like Max Boot are starting to call Trump out for his fascism) are probably likely to.
That’s exactly the sort of work that’s needed on a day like Thanksgiving. Good on you.
But to force people (and forcing them is what these big retailers are doing) to come to work so Best Buy can sell a few more televisions is just wrong.
’m glad you got time and a half. But when I worked at a national chain mall store, they insisted that anyone who made over min wage was a “professional” and made us sign papers that said we’d get no overtime, and had to work 60+ hour work weeks. My manager was working from 5:30 am to 11 pm the entire week before x-mas, and for the month of Dec got a total of 4 days off, including X-mas….The cashiers that did make min wage were just given fewer hours..And when I worked at Nieman Marcus’s call center they insisted that Easter was not a postal holiday (always Sun) so we not only had to show up or loose our job, we got no extra pay and a good half of us got sent home with no pay after less than a few hours due to the low call volume.

At least they didn’t head out on Thanksgiving Day. I boycott any stores that were open then as being horrible to their workers.

Good for you. You’re the kind of person that makes life bearable for the rest of us, when other people just try to make life miserable.
