One of the most awkward experiences I ever had was playing the music at the wedding of a young woman I’d known since she was ten, who was pregnant at the time of the wedding (and just beginning to show). She rationalized putting out for her fiancé (and getting knocked up) by saying that back in the days of ancient Israel, a betrothal (which she compared to a modern engagement) was of sufficient force as to entitle the couple to conjugal rights even before the official marriage ceremony.

Wear black. I heard that was slimming. It ok to wear black to a doomed wedding right?

But calling an unmarried woman “tacky” is the worst of all.

The only thing more tacky than a pregnant bride is a pregnant Hooters girl. (Yes, I’ve seen both.)
