Dick Tracy by Mike Curtis and Charles Ettinger for December 07, 2015

Okay, honestly, you got me…I have no guesses! But, that doesn’t mean I like it any less. Team Tracy has me fascinated, as always!

The Hangman is really Kadaver in disguise, right?

Has the person under the Hangman mask tried to kill Tracy before? Anyway, it’s not looking good for Tracy at the moment.

His main goal was the stop the film from being made, but he never thought he’d get his chance to kill Tracy from closeup like this. He likes that even better than stopping the movie.

I’m guessing the hangman is going to get the same treatment as he gave to so many poor souls. Tracy will be saved by his safety harness.

… and we’ve lost our colour again — Gasoline Alley too.

Got to give The Hangman credit….he’s definitely committed to his task.

I think it is not only Tracy who is going to get caught in the noose. Looks like he will have company.

His “Second Chance” might refer to something else.

Hadn’t the role of “Boss Tracy” been Byron Orlock’s “Second Chance” …?

Trivial observation: it’s odd, how that noose maintains its loop….

The Hangman is wounded, Tracy is not. Tracy ought to prevail here. But I still expect an ironic fate for this villain, whoever he turns out to be. I think he will somehow end up hanging himself….

“A second bullet is needed. Marksman !!!”.The noose is in place; the second bullet may just help Hangman finish his job – though, killing them both!

Any reason the Hangman can’t be Vera Alldid? He was established as wanting the movie stopped. The only other “natural” suspects could be Adam Austin, irrationally agree about some aspect of the production, or one of the film’s financial backers, expecting it to flop and hoping to collect on the production insurance. But either of them would be more likely to try to escape than to try to take Tracy down. Unless the first hanging actually was a suicide and somebody close to the victim blames stress from the film and wants revenge.

Hi folks, I’ll take a wild bet that The Hangman will fail, plus I recall that Tracy and Forsythe are wearing safety gear. My best wishes to Vista Bill The Mighty Comet and the rest of you coppers on the case!

“Most Potentially Frustrating Scenario” …

I’ve had this in the back of my head for awhile now, so color me pessimistic.

1.) The Hangman’s noose is attached to the helicopter.

2.) It’s “The Hangman’s” head which gets tangled up in said noose – These two points are actually fairly likely.

3.) The added weight of “The Hangman” dangling from said noose as he falls off of the scaffolding unbalances the load and sends the ’copter tumbling into a spiral …

4.) Resulting in a spectacular and fiery crash …

5.) … and the following dialogue:

PANEL ONE: SAM KETCHEM and LLOYD NEWMAN watch in horror as the tableau unfolds.

SAM: “Ye Gods!”

SAM: “The fire is …”

PANEL TWO: A SILENT PANEL, as the two watch the flames consume both figures, as well as the downed helicopter.

PANEL THREE: A visibly shaken LLOYD NEWMAN turns to SAM KETCHEM

LLOYD NEWMAN: “W-Will there be … enough left to tell —?”

SAM: “No.”

SAM: “Guess we’ll never know who either one of them was.”

Several folks here had suggested that Forsythe might suffer a psychotic break of some sort, and evolve into FLATTOP II.

Might we be witnessing An Origin Story …?

Not really – it’s just seeing the second panel reminded me of Mademoiselle Geary’s advice to Raul; things kinda’ took off from there. (Unless I start doing like MAD Magazine used to do, and make the note: “With apologies to Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice…”)

Kadaver has tried and failed MORE than once to kill Tracy, anyways, which would eliminate him on that count as well. Wish it were Vitamin; that would be a funny ending, lol..

Where, exactly, would hang him FROM, anyways? Tracy is not exactly going to walk back to the copter with him so he could do it there…
