Reminds me of a comment by Lazarus Long(RAH) about the inadvisability of long term suspended animation.
“What if Judgment Day occurred and I slept through it?”
“There’s kind of a funny story about that. You see, I lived in Nebraska and my plan was to commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. But just before my flight I saw Death at the airport in Omaha; believe me, he was just as surprised as I was. So I figured ‘Why should I bother with the trip, if Death is right here in town?’ After six months of waiting I finally shot myself, and when Death came to take me he said ‘You’ve really thrown me off schedule. I was supposed to meet you six months ago in San Francisco.’”
If it be now, ‘tis not to come; if it be not to come, it will be now. If it be not now, yet it will come. The readiness is all.

I kept trying to die, but the doctors kept pumping stuff into me that kept me hanging on.
