Yeah, commercials are often louder than the actual TV program. Needs a disclaimer: “This program may get you sucked in, figuratively and literally.”

I have two cures for commercials:

    1) Walk away when when come one and/or 2) Mute them

I also do not buy products that advertise on TV more than a respectiable amount. Something that advertises every 20 minutes 24 hours a day will never be found in my home.

And I still have the older model TV that has smart sound.

My grandfather installed a switch on his tv (years before mute buttons) that turned the sound off and on. He called it the “blab off”. This particular strip shows why.

It’s funny how TV programming’s solution to loosing market share to Internet based media is to crame in even more commercials and make them louder.

(Groan!) I am despising these bloody stupid commericals with loud sounds after and before the programs breaks and comes back again. These commericals are so STUPID! I sometimes turned my head around the walls at my home while the commericals were on the TV. Sometimes I like the funny ones, sometimes not. sighhhhhh! :-/

Aright Commie Creepos! That ad is all American. The network put on the lousy show your watching just to have Billy Mays scream at you that you cannot live without the Amazing Beet Dicier (rush shipment available). If you have one drop of red, white, and blue blood in you, reach for you phone and protect your country from Martian invasion. It’s up to you! Our operators are waiting.

And now back to Miss Marple and the salt jar.

I hate when the commercials are louder than the program. I also hate when one channel’s quiet and the next one’s so loud it blows me out of my chair.

Is it just me or are the commercial makers starting to use people with annoying voices so even when you hit the mute button you still hear the message in your head?

Case and point: “Bill…? Tom…? Hey it’s an office party”

I get a kick out of how totally excited the people on the shows get over some weird kitchen gadget or whatever. Obviouly doesn’t take much to amuse some people.

Actually, there are FCC rules against making commercials louder than the regular programming. The advertisers get around it by having the recording engineers emphasize certain sound frequencies that stand out to us, making the commercials SEEM louder. The evil so-and-so’s!

Glad to see so many people hate commercials as much as I do!

LadybugMacon: I’ve always wondered why they think screaming at me and hurting my ears makes me want to buy their product.

Aaron: I don’t buy products advertised on TV either. For one thing, they pass those advertising costs on to the consumer. My solution is to keep the remote handy and click to the next channel. I often miss some of what I wanted to see that way, but it’s better than being annoyed by the lying advertisements.

All in all, I think most ads are counterproductive. If they spent as much time & $$$ making them funny, they would at least get people to watch them.

It reminds me of the Peanuts comic, when Linus was there watching TV, and then there was a used car sale commercial that was real loud, and he said help~ also.
