If you are keeping a dog outside, he may be a good pet but you are a really awful owner. How would you like to be kept in the backyard alone 24 hours a day? However, I have discovered that life is easier if you just buy carpet that matches the dog, or a dog that matches the carpet, whichever you have first.
When it comes to shedding, Labs are the worst. I used to brush our black Lab out on the lawn for 15 minutes or so, throwing the fur around for the birds, and then she’d shake herself, and there’d be such a halo of fur you’d think I hadn’t touched her.
My wife tried to get one of our dogs to come inside here recently. She managed to get him to put both front feet in the door frame and that was as far as he would go even for the treat she was trying to lure him with. Half the time in winter he won’t even go sleep in the barn or the dog house, he just curls up around the corner of the house in case someone comes out. Not all dogs are inside dogs.
