Their “handicap” should be obvious to anyone. Not that it would get them a disabled placard.
However, I’m sure there are a lot of people in Crustwood who, if they could get away with it, would be happy to help disable them.
Let’s start with that grey-haired elderly lady over there… the one trying to carry a 25 lb bag of rock salt and some other purchases, all by herself in a snowstorm.
Burl doesn’t offer to shovel Ma’s front porch or go in for the rock salt. Joy doesn’t go in with Ma to help either… Next stop for Ma in the gun shop…. ! ! !
I’m new to this strip and it’s the only one out there that literally makes me laugh out loud. And it’s not an immediate thing … not sight gags. It’s the implications of what the characters are saying/doing. Although the drawing looks like the work of an autistic child, the mind behind this strip bows to no one. Well done.

As soon as Burl sees Ma he’ll move to an outlot parking space.

That’s besides the point, Burl. You still can’t park there without a handicapped permit.

Burl’s personal motto is: I shall not be inconvenienced. And they are probably saying, “Why is she taking so long, it’s chilly out here”

If you want to see this for real, watch Parking Wars some time.
