Not that I expect any Penny utterance to make sense…but I can’t figure out why Joy thinks driving golf carts equates to wearing curlers and housecoats. Not that anybody under 50 is likely to know what a “curler” is anyway. Curlers predate rollers… if you’re under 40, you may not even know what a roller is.

The only “upscale” thing for these people is the number on the bathroom scale when they climb onto it. It goes up up up!

They must be giving cheap items for taking the tour.Pennys never go to country clubs that cost. Do they even know what a country club is?

My mother and everyone else’s mother wore house dresses and housecoats. I don’t even think they sell them anymore. I am now my mother’s age and wear tight jeans and short skirts. No house dresses or house coats for me! I’m being silly – aren’t I?

Remembers seeing my mom and several other ladies in curlers in the grocery store. Now of days no more curlers. How ever I have seen more then a few people in pjs and housecoats and slippers shopping in the grocery store. I also have seen worse in our local walmart. One of the reasons I tend to not frequent walmart. I will confess I have gone shopping after a bike ride in still my lycra waking my bike up and down the aisles. Seems to be okay with the local albertsons management . I am polite and get out of peoples way.

There are days when I never get out of my housecoat, but I also don’t go out in public. I’ve always had to wear a wig, and when the girls were little they were going to save their allowances and buy me one with curlers in it so I’d look like all the other ladies in the supermarket.
