This is so true. Farmers Markets always charge almost double for their produce. People think because the produce comes from a Farmers Market, it’s better. It is not! I got it from the source … they buy their produce just like the grocery stores, but the Farmers Markets charge more so they can get a profit.
Most of our Farmers Market vendors grow their own produce. Also they do tend to be a bit higher price wise. To stay in business they do need to make a profit. I have always found their offerings better.
The growers at our Farmers Market are too proud of their produce! We have a produce store called Farm Patch that has a lot of locally grown produce and it’s not near as high. Most grocery stores have quality produce and get as much as possible locally grown. But that could mean within 100 miles of the store or distribution center.
