Whole wheat pasta does NOT taste the same as regular. In fact, the texture isn’t even the same. I don’t mind whole wheat breads, but it does not make good pasta. The only time I like the whole wheat pasta is for the Armenian lasagna recipe my mom makes. She always used whole wheat lasagna noodles for that and it’s really good.
Wheat is NOT “bad” for the lion’s share of folks. Only people with Celiac Disease or a true allergy to wheat need to avoid wheat. The “gluten free” craze is the real FAD. Probably about 95% of the gluten free foods are sold to people who have no real need to avoid wheat.
And, in reality, the “white flour” pastas themselves are a FAD of sorts… they became popular long ago because they were considered “more pure” due to their uniform color (just like white bread). I see no harm in eating white pasta or white bread if people like it, nor do I see a problem with folks eating whole wheat bread or whole wheat pasta if they like it.
Whole wheat pasta does taste a little different from white flour pastas…. but it is really a matter of preference. I prefer whole wheat pastas because I like the added texture, and I also enjoy the flavor differences.
Recent studies have shown that there are definite harmful effects from avoiding all gluten. If you can’t tolerate gluten you have no choice. If you have a choice, your diet should include gluten.

We’ve gone to eating “zoodles” Zucchini run through a spiralizer to make spaghetti or fettuccine. Low carb, low calorie, and tasty.
