My brother-in-law used to call us to let us know he’d received our email. The man is literally a rocket scientist. Smart as a whip, and dumb as an oyster.
My father in law is worse than this. He’ll call because his printer won’t print and all you needed to do was turn it off and back on. He used to shut his computer off at night by pushing the power button. I told him you should never do that, one day he called up and I said ’It’s locked up, push the power button." He said “But you said to never do that!”
As a long-time computer support person, I can’t tell you how many folk printed out every single e-mail. Not as common today but it was for a long time.

I tutored people who DID that.
Either printed out the email and mailed it, or called the person to alert them, or even read it to them over the phone.
And in the days of this strip, they were probably on dial up, and Burl will unplug the phone while it’s sending.
Jaw J.. An old shirt from his school days.

That’s okay. The email said, “Call me.”

Pretty funny today. And quite spot-on as to some early computer users.

Wait, Burl, think! Is the phone cord long enough? And, can the phone be removed from it’s wall cradle safely?

I love the ‘apple’ logo with the crumbs falling off.
