As a matter of fact, companies are making things smaller, but not changing the price. Look at the cardboard core in a roll of toilet paper. You could drive a Cooper Mini through that thing. When I called, the sweet young thing who answered the phone told me, apparently with a straight face, that they were trying to avoid a price increase. When I pointed out that charging the same thing for 600 sheets as you did for 800 is a price increase in my book, she insisted I was “still paying the same amount”. To quote Burl, “They must think we’re stupid.”
Soon that flour will be going the same way of sugar, tuna, coffee, etc. Reduce the size of the container and charge the same. No price increase there… ???
Soon we’ll see on the To do list, weight a pound of lead and a pound of feathers and see which is heavier…

18 Years ago is when I noticed it. A 10 pack of single Reeses for $1, awesome. Now it’s around 4 for $1.50.
