I rented one at Disney World one year (I have angina). I wanted to keep up with the rest of the family and not hold them back. Unfortunately, the ones they have there are rather slow, so I was playing catch-up all the time. But the worst part was the fact that almost every person at the park was looking at their cellphones, stopping and constantly blocking my path. I took the damn thing back and made better time without it.

I always thought you had to be disabled to purchase a mobility scooter…
but I remember when a former GoComics user boasted that her new boyfriend was going to buy one,
so that when they went to events together they could take turns using it.She was in her early 70’s but neither was disabled…
and she seemed untroubled by the concept or by making the announcement….
nor did anyone else say anything negative in the comments.
Maybe Burl is not alone.

My dad got one when he had a leg removed. He used it ALL the time! Even in the house. He lost strength in his arms and went downhill from there.
I had to use one at the grocery store when I had severe knee pain. I didn’t/don’t like using them because everything looks different from that level.
