There is a bridge similar to that one near Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, BC, built in the 1880s. One wrong move and you fall a couple of hundred feet into the rapids and rocks. That bridge has withstood challenges for the past 135 years or so. But one suspects that Burl and his lot would bring it to and end. Not just from their collective girth born of stubbornness and ignorance, but because their relentless petulance would exasperate the staff there to close it to all pedestrian traffic.

It’s a good thing he didn’t get three quarters of the way. He would have had to crawl back farther.

Reminds me of the story of the man trying to swim the English channel from England to France.
He got with in sight of the French shore, turned around and swam back to England.
When asked why he said, “I didn’t think I could make it the whole way.”
