ALL of their pilot lights are out.

They need to get a newer updated coffee pot that turns itself off after two hours, if needed. As to the other issue, the pilot lights are on, but nobody’s home.

Every pilot light I’ve had since the 1950’s has had a thermocouple to stop the gas if the pilot light wasn’t lit. The only problem with Ma turning hers off is that when they get back, she’ll want Burl to relight it for her, and Burl, gas and a match is an ominous combination.

For the best coffee that does not taste burnt use an insulated carafe then you don’t have to worry about turning it off.
