    My mother had recipes (handed down) like that. They worked for her? She made the best cookies and I got the recipe…I can’t decode it!

    Remember the old They’ll Do It Every Time comic? I remember this one with the 2 cake-bakers.

    Flora measures every drop. Flora’s is an awful flop!

    Old recipe books (over 60 years ago, approximately) read like that a lot. It was one of the things that foundational chefs like Julia Child and Irma Rombauer tried to correct.
