Oh, good grief (with Snoopy’s “world famous” whatever personas again).

A rescue dog!

Snoopy is no match for the chomping tree.

Fire dog? Where are his black spots?

Rescue Squad. There was a syndicated TV series, called Rescue 8, that ran from 1958-1960 (with reruns throughout the 1960s) that brought the work of specialized rescue squads to the attention of the general public.

Schroeder’s going to have to go back to the piano closet.

A piano might as well be a harmonica to a tree……..

Snoopy, the jack of all trades. He can do anything, folks. That’s the kind of dog you need.

From the sounds of chewing, I would say it is a little too late for a rescue. Let the tree put that piano out of it’s misery.

Poor piano…what a way to go.

Snoopy comes up to the tree, shakes his fist, and lifts the leg.

In a panic, the tree spits out what’s left of Schroeder’s piano, and perhaps some kite skeletons for CB.

Won’t the tree break it’s teeth? After all the kite is not made of hard wood.

See, this is when Patty and Violet definitively ceased to be significant characters in the strip. In the past, they’d be one of the first kids to walk into a situation this. Now, though, neither one of them is even going to show up.

I actually love the Snoopy alter ego characters but some were better than others, and this particular one is among the forgettable ones. Most of the alter egos made me smile and were among the best drawn strips. They tended to highlight Charles Schulz’s attention to detail.
