Q: How many mathematicians does it take to change a light bulb? A: That is left as an exercise for the reader.I used to hate it when that happened.
Like Sally Brown, who “got out of” blackboard work in school: “I told her it was hard for me because of my bursitis.”
SEERIOSLY!!
wait, now i can use it math exams, thanks a ton, bill Waterson
It worked for Hobby Lobby.
no no no, if you have 2 +7, positive 7’s, then the answer clearly is 14.
yes. actual thinking can be hard work.
Guys… is it me or u also feel the look of calvin seems different? Bill outsourced it???
This is an older comic from the beginning years of Calvin and Hobbes. The characters were still developing their looks at that time.
Math doesn’t get hard until graduate level. I hated Functions Of Complex Variables. I just didn’t have enough imagination.
They is three things that I is good at——Math and English.
Sorry, I should have said “…I are good at.”
Why didn’t they go to the end and then restart?
Sorry, Calvin, I don’t think you’ll get away with that – though astoundingly the ruse might work in science classes in some places.
I may have missed something but Calvin looks different the last couple of days. His head is not the same shape….or am I just reading my comics too early in the day for my eyes to be awake?
Calvin is left handed?
I’m going to take a wild stab in the dark and say 9.
Calvin (pointing at Dad, sitting in his easy chair, reading a book): "SHAZAM!
“SHAZAM!!!
“Rats, still there!”
Dad: “Har, har. Why don’t you go bug your Mother for a little while?!”
Mom (overhearing him, from the other room): “Dear!”
Nein. NEIN!
2+7=11 (in octal) or 9 (in decimal). There’s really not enough information available to answer the question.
Calvin is SHOCKINGLY bad at math, even for a 6 year old
Calvin might be good at math: you can’t tell from this! (He might have known the answer but really does have deep religious principles…..yeah, right.)
I said nein and I meant nein…
The answer is 9, Calvin.
Oops. Hope I didn’t ruin it.
xxx
he was way ahead of his time there
14? :)
I’m surprised that no one has gotten the correct answer.2 + 7 = A Baseball Team.
In the hierarchy of science, chemists bow to physicists, physicists bow to mathematicians, and mathematicians bow only to God.
It goes directly against my political positions at this time to give a numerical answer to that or any other mathmatical questions.
Why didn’t I think of that way back then!
See strip Nov 21, 1985. Same problem, different answer.
Math used to be easy for me…and then Satan decided to throw in the alphabet.
That’s what I get for making a higher math joke.
So, he can’t spell question, but he can spell principle? Makes sense to me.
Well, 2 + 7 = 27; and 7 + 2 = 72. Simple six-year-old logic!
If + were mistaken for exponentiation, then 2+7 = 128.
