freeholder1, No, the Nazis were not fascists, nor were they socialists, they were in their own little world.

What’s the difference between Sheik Yerbouti and Rush Limbaugh? One has a life, S-Y doesn’t, one never heard of S-Y, the other most likely never listen to Limbaugh.
From Webster: “The term Fascism was first used of the totalitarian right-wing nationalist regime of Mussolini in Italy (1922–43), and the regimes of the Nazis in Germany and Franco in Spain were also fascist. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach.”
So yes, the Nazis were fascists. They were definitely nationalistic. They were definitely a dictatorship that did not value democracy (although Hitler was elected as Chancellor). They definitely operated as a partnership between government and corporations and were big fans of private enterprise. As a side note, Henry Ford was a huge supporter of the Nazi Party and wrote many articles for NSDAP publications.
Maybe you guys should learn the difference between an economic system (capitalism, socialism) and a political system (democracy, dictatorship) and the the combination (along with legal and social system) which become fascism, communism, and various other nationally individual systems. All of which, as all system do, fail eventually if they are not flexible enough to use the strengths of the other systems (such as socialism pulling the US capitalistic system out of it’s own bleeep regularly.

Here in BC the right-wing party called itself “Social Credit” until they got caught – then changed the name to “Liberal”

Labels don’t work when it comes to politics. It’s much too complicated for simple labels.
Wait, I know one label that covers it all.
Mess.
